PHILOSOPHY OF TRAINING

Why I do what I do

When we adopted our shepherd mix as a puppy, we found that he had fearful anxiety which was later acted out in aggression.  After many unsuccessful efforts in training, I realized that I, the owner, was enabling the bad behavior without knowing it.  I needed to be trained myself!  As I became a certified dog trainer, I found that I had a true passion for training dogs and their owners.

I especially have a passion for dogs coming from rescues, shelters, and pounds.  Very often, the failure of these pets to conquer the fearful behaviors learned on the street or in shelters results in their unnecessary return to an overcrowded shelter where they will be euthanized.  My heart's desire is to minimize this from happening.  I almost always find that re-training the pet parents results in a change in their dog's behavior, as well as successful integration into the family.

I practice a rewards-based, positive reinforcement training method.  This will make your dog happy, and you'll love the look on their face as they eagerly anticipate your next command.  Let me help you fall in love with your dog and train them to be an integral member of your family!
